Tusculum College

Tusculum College is one of only four colleges in the United States (and the only college in the east) with a focused calendar where students take one class at a time. It is the only four-year college in the United States with both a focused calendar and a Civic Arts approach.

Tusculum College remains true to its origins as a church-related institution of higher learning in the civic republican tradition by developing educated citizens distinguished by academic excellence, public service, and qualities of Judeo-Christian character. The College reflects the ideal of its civic arts heritage through its commitment both to integrity and to the development of strong citizenship qualities. Furthermore, the College uses innovative approaches to teaching and learning at the undergraduate and Master's levels to instill factual knowledge, cultivate the habits of practical wisdom, and develop the skill of reflective thinking, all necessary for personal success in a democratic society. 

Founded in 1794, Tusculum College is the oldest college in Tennessee, the twenty-eighth oldest college in the nation, and the oldest coeducational institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The wooded 140-acre Tusculum College campus has eight buildings and the Tusculum Arch that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
