DAN 2100:  Dance Appreciation for the 21st Century is designed to introduce the student to the discipline of dance and the ways it creates and analyzes knowledge about the world. Ultimately, the course seeks to challenge and expand cultural horizons.

This introductory Dance Appreciation course is intended to give movement experience and an understanding of aesthetics, creative thinking, and analysis as applied to the art form, rather than to teach students how to dance. The design team developed the course to be given as a hybrid or fully online in order to allow flexibility in scheduling and to reach a wider audience. Development challenges included how to integrate live lab and virtual lab course elements with online lecture and discussion.
