I am many things: academic; study advice tutor; psychologist; author; local historian with a dedicated interest in Hull's Hessle Road Fishing Community and Industry; DVD producer; photographer; multi-media developer; enjoyer of life; etc.
I have worked as part of the Study Advice Service team since 2002 at the University of Hull. We are a friendly group who are keen to serve our students: help them overcome their academic problems and make progress in their lives. I have utilised VLE’s as part of my teaching over the last five years, using a range of methods to facilitate and support student learning. Over the last year I have been appointed eLearning coordinator for the faculty and have been developing a number of strategies to support further integration of the VLE across modules and programmes within the faculty.

Chris Thomson completed his PhD studying how software development teams respond to changes made to their projects at the University of Sheffield. In his postdoctoral research he investigated how testing methods are used by software development teams and how conflict affects their projects also at Sheffield. He is now at the University of Hull developing an online community for doctoral students that focuses on skills training.
