I have been a practicing clinical counselor for 30 years. I am currently licensed in New York and Illinois. The LPC license will probably pass in California this year. I wish to be grandfathered in however, some additional coursework is needed. Throughout the past 10 years I have been teaching workshops in preparation for the NCE.
I received a Ph.D. in philosophy from DePaul University in 1978. In 1986 I received a Ph.D. in psychology from Saybrook Institute in San Francisco. Even as a philosophy graduate student and until 1986 I taught at various universities in the midwest. I developed a friendship with Dr. Erika Fromm at the University of Chicago in 1978 and began learning hypnotherapy and hypnoanalysis initially under her tutelage. I continued study with such notables as Ernest Hilgard, Paul Sacerdote, and Milton Erikson. In 1981 I returned to graduate school to complete a Ph.D. in psychology with Stanley Krippner as my advisor. As a clinician with over 35,000 contact hours I can honestly say, to this day I enjoy every hour of work.
