I do research at the intersections of critical cyber culture and feminist studies. I teach courses in New Media and Society, Cross-Cultural Communication, Organizational Communication, and Research Methods.
I am a former 2nd grade teacher and business owner (educational multimedia development firm in Austin, TX 1995-2001). I have been working as an instructional designer at TX State since 2002 helping faculty develop online courses.
Trained as a sociologist, I am now Director of the Center for a Sustainable Future and developing our new minor in Sustainability Studies. A graduate certificate in sustainability shodul be in place within teh next 12-18 months. I have taught a variety of courses including Introduction to Sociological Theory, Qualitative Research Methods, Sociology of Science, Environment and Society, Postmodernism, Introduction to Graduate Liberal Studies, and, most recently, Foundations of Sustainability.

I have worked in Educational Technology for almost a lifetime. I have served as a consultant in technology to professional schools, as a project manager, as an instructional designer, a consultant to faculty in technology and in creating online course sites, and currently a director of an online program. Previous to UMD, I worked briefly at Oakland Univ, three years in a grant funded project including 5 universities in the metro Detroit area, and 10 years at Emory University, Atlanta, GA. Married, 3 grown daughters, 3 sons-in-law, 1 granddaughter, 3 cats. Love gardening, digital and traditional scrapbooking, reading, and sewing.
