Dr. Andrea Rother holds a PhD in environmental sociology and is Programme Head of the Health Risk Management Programme in the Occupational and Environmental Health Research Unit in the School of Public Health at the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. She is developer and programme convener of a e-learning Post Graduate Diploma in Pesticide Risk Management at UCT in conjunction with the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO). The course aims to build the capacity of developing country pesticide regulators and pesticide risk managers to reduce pesticide risks from and reliance on pesticides. This course is taught through UCTs on-line teaching platform, Vula. Students with poor internet connections and continual power cuts actively take part in "live seminars" through a chat room where they are exposed to guest lecturers and current/relevant topics.

I lecture commercial law subjects and use technology extensively to enhance teaching and learning.

I am a Lecturer in the Centre for Educational Technology and teach on our Masters in Education (ICTs in Education) course. I have a PhD in Information Systems and 7 years experience undertaking research in higher education students access to ICTs and how they use them for learning.

I am an Associate Prof in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Cape Town. I teach courses in Mechanics (solid mechanics, structures, dynamics and vibration) to undergraduate students enrolled for BSc(Eng) degrees. I also supervise student projects, from undergraduate level to PhD level, generally in the dynamic response of structures and materials, but occasionally on risk awareness too.

I am an Associate Prof in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Cape Town. I teach courses in Mechanics (solid mechanics, structures, dynamics and vibration) to undergraduate students enrolled for BSc(Eng) degrees. The junior courses can have between 150 and 250 students. The senior courses can be small (10-30 students) or larger (120 students).

I supervise experimental and modelling projects. I also have an interest in curriculum development, the development of "online" teaching resources and in engineering education in general.
