The TWSIA competition is open to all faculty, including full-time tenured, tenure track, adjuncts, associate, instructors and teaching assistants--in other words to anyone who is teaching classes.

The Sakai Foundation announces the 5th annual Teaching With Sakai Innovation Award (TWSIA) competition. The competition officially opens on January 2, 2012.

Although there are many ways in which technology, and in particular Sakai, can make the teaching process more efficient or productive, innovative technology applications truly transform the educational experience. The intent of this award is to highlight examples of educational applications of Sakai which fall into this innovative or transformative category.

Do I have to be innovative in every category of the TWSIA rubric to submit a course for the award?

You do not need to be innovative in EVERY category of the rubric to apply for the award. When you complete an application for the award competition, you will select the category or categories in which you believe your course/site is innovative.

Teaching With Sakai Innovation Award Categories

As of the 2012 Award year, the following categories will be used for all submissions:*

A. Higher Education: Face-to-Face

This category covers courses for which a class generally meets face-to-face (physically) weekly during a semester and uses technology to supplement classroom-based teaching and learning. Higher education refers to university-level undergraduate education (also referred to as "college" in North America), vocational education (referred to as "tertiary" in Australia and New Zealand), and beyond.
